8 AM - 5 PM (EDT) - "FILL THE BUS" - 101 Student Services Building& virtual - The MSU Center for Community Engaged Learning (CCEL) and MSU Alumni invite you to participate in our 16th annual “Fill the Bus” event. We strive to give local students and families an equal start to the new year! When a K-12 student walks into the classroom with the basic supplies they need, they can focus on what really matters- learning! 10 AM - 2 PM (EDT) DROP-IN CAREER ADVISING - 113 Student Services Building - Visit Career Services at the Career Exploration Center to meet with a career advisor who can assist you in exploring your career and internship options, learn more about upcoming career events, workshops and the resources available to guide you during your MSU journey.



12 - 2 PM (EDT) ACADEMIC SCHOLARS PROGRAM (ASP) CONVOCATION AND COOKOUT - Alumni Memorial Chapel - The Academic Scholars Program (ASP) welcomes its newest members with a special event at the Alumni Memorial Chapel. New Academic Scholars will get to meet each other and hear from upper-level Academic Scholars and the interim dean of the Honors College. All Academic Scholars beginning in Fall 2024 are REQUIRED to attend. We can’t wait to see you soon!


1 - 3 PM (EDT) JAMES MADISON COLLEGE (JMC) Student Organization & Resource Fair - Club Spartan (338 Case Hall) & Case Hall 3rd Floor Classrooms - Visit the 3rd floor of Case Hall to meet with various JMC affiliated student organizations and find out how to get involved during your first year! JMC staff will be on hand to share information about the various resources available to you and give away FREE JMC swag!

 

2 - 5 PM (EDT) COLLOQUIA WITH YOUR COLLEGE - Location varies - AS A NEW STUDENT YOU ARE REQUIRED to participate in this event. “Colloquium with Your College” locations are listed on the Fall Welcome website at fallwelcome.msu.edu and your individualized information is also available on your Individual Personalized Fall Welcome Schedule. During this event new Spartans will meet their college Dean, Faculty, Academic Advisers, upper-class students and other new students in their college. This session is an essential way for you to learn about what it takes to be successful at Michigan State University.

      

5 - 6 PM (EDT) HONORS COLLEGE AND ACADEMIC SCHOLARS PROGRAM GREEN TEAMS - (location information will be emailed to your MSU email in August) - The Honors College and Academic Scholars Program are excited to see our new students for Green Teams (orientation groups) after your College Colloquium. Join two upper-level mentors and a small group of new students from related majors for required orientation activities; stay tuned to your MSU email in August for your group’s location. Teams are invited to attend dinner and U-Fest together afterward. Hosted by the Honors College and Academic Scholars Program.


5:30 - 6:30 PM (EDT) COMMUNITY MEETINGS
- Varies by Community - On-campus residents will have a community meeting one night during move-in. Residents moving in on Thursday or Friday will meet on Friday between 5:30-6:30. Exact locations and time options will vary per hall and will be shared by the Residence Education team. During this meeting, residents will meet their hall staff, learn more about the hall, and review important policies and procedures. Participation in this MEETING IS REQUIRED.

 

6 - 9 PM (EDT) 44TH ANNUAL UFEST - MSU Union - Start your semester off right at our 44th annual UFest! This event is hosted by the University Activities Board (UAB) and includes giveaways, music, activities and more! Get your commemorative tote bag while supplies last. Slide down our giant slide and capture the UFest fun with our photo booth. Bring a friend and enjoy the evening at UFest from 6-9 pm on Friday, August 23rd at the MSU Union. 7 PM – 12 AM (EDT) "SPARTAN ENGAGE" EVENING ACTIVITIES - Engagement evening activities that are coordinated between the Office of Spartan Experiences and Residence Education and Housing Services (REHS) as an extension of community building activities.

  • 7 - 8 PM (EDT) SKIES OVER MSU - Abrams Planetarium - In this program we will show what is up in the night sky as well as talk about different ways students can get involved with the Abrams Planetarium. Seating will be first come first serve and is limited. We cannot guarantee seats for this program. No late admittance to the show.
  • 7 - 9 PM (EDT) YOUR CAMPUS, YOUR MUSEUM! - Eli and Edythe Broad Museum - Join the MSU Eli and Edythe Broad Museum staff for an amazing interactive event featuring programming and an opportunity to view the museum collections. Hosted by MSU Eli and Edythe Broad Museum.
  • 8 - 9 PM (EDT) SPARTY SMART TRIVIA - Virtual via Zoom - Spartans will have the opportunity to win prizes during each round. We will host three rounds including a social media lightning round.   • 9 PM – 12 AM (EDT) SPARTAN BINGO/SPARTAN GAME NIGHT – International Center (Food Court & Room 115) - Join Associated Students of Michigan State University (ASMSU) for Spartan Game Night featuring bingo and other games. Chance to win great prizes, don’t miss out on this Spartan experience. Hosted by ASMSU.
